Nachdem wir uns im letzten Jahr bereits sehr wohl gefühlt haben, sind wir dieses Jahr zum zweiten Mal bei Nikos zu Gast gewesen. Das Haus, der Pool und das Meer vor der Tür haben uns wieder sehr gut gefallen. Seit unserem letzten Urlaub wurde das Badezimmer saniert, was uns zusätzlich sehr zugesagt hat. Nikos ist ein wunderbarer Gastgeber und stand uns jederzeit zur Verfügung.
Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder, um bei Nikos Urlaub zu machen.

Wir haben uns auf Anhieb sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Haus und der Pool sind sehr schön und gepflegt. Man hat seine Privatsphäre und kann zu Fuss zum schönen Strand laufen. Nikos war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir können es sehr empfehlen.

Wir hatten einen wirklich tollen Urlaub. Die Unterkunft ist jeden Cent wert, 2 Minuten zum Strand, eigener Pool, alle drei Tage kommt die Putzkraft mit frischen Handtüchern und Bettlaken und die Kommunikation war super. 10/10! Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und wir können es nur jedem empfehlen, Nikos Unterkunft zu buchen. Dankeschön für tolle 2 Wochen!

What a wonderful stay we had at Niko’s villa. Perfect surroundings with a wonderful view of the beach and a divine swimming pool. We enjoyed every moment there and wish we’d booked 2 weeks instead of one! Niko was quick to respond to our questions and we were surprised to have a cleaner mid stay, this isnt something we’ve had before and it felt like an added touch. The local restaurants are walking distance and are fabulous,; we had some lovely meals. If you are planning a stay without a car and make use of the buses I would advise to always mention “Matt’s cafe” to the bus driver as your stop off point, everyone on the island seems to know this place! It’s a wonderful cafe at the top of the track. They have a bus timetable there too and speak English. Niko sent some info regarding places to visit etc but it would be nice to have a visitor book with suggestions from other guests too. Overall it felt like one of the best, relaxing holidays we have had and will book again! Thanks Niko!

We had an excellent stay at Villa Mathios.The property is very comfortable, spacious, and located in a quiet area, yet with easy access to the highway and only a short 6-minute drive from the city center.

The service was exceptional. George and Nikos were always available, professional, and extremely helpful with any requests or information we needed throughout our stay.

Overall, the villa offers the perfect combination of comfort, tranquility, and convenience, making it an excellent choice for both relaxation and exploring the surrounding area.

We spent six nights at this beautiful villa in Crete and had an amazing time.
The villa is spacious, spotless, and very well-maintained. The garden is lovely, the beds are super comfortable, and the pool is fantastic – deep, fun, and thoughtfully designed with everything you need, from umbrellas to a little table by the sunbeds.
The location is perfect for exploring the island, and there’s a great taverna just around the corner.
Nikos, the host, was outstanding – always quick to respond, very helpful, and took care of everything right away.
We truly enjoyed our stay, would love to come back, and will happily recommend it to friends!

We stayed at Nikos place as a family of 4 ( 2 adults 2 children 5 and 6 year old). we had a amazing time and the pool and garden with sea views are just amazing. beach is also a 5 min walk from the property. nice supermarket within walking distance and the caffe 20m away serves amazing coffee. The beds were very comfortable which makes all the difference. I would definitely come back and recommend it.

We had a great stay at the villa for a week during a shoulder period. The proximity of the villa to a fabulous cafe and restaurant was great, with only a short 100m walk to both. The villa is super comfortable and decorated tastefully. Nikos arranged a hire car to be dropped off and picked up from us at the villa which was so convenient. We had a late check in and arranged to find some sandwiches from the cafe in the fridge, a bowl of drukte, bottle of wine and biscuits - a very welcome surprise.
This is a great option to come and stay even during the low season.

We can highly recommend Nikos beach house. Nikos is very friendly and helpful. The house has a very high quality, the small garden is peaceful and the beach is perfect for a morning swim and for snorkelling.
Would even recommend the coffee and pastry at Matts cafe!
We used the outside barbecue a couple of times with meat from the butcher in the town - and it was delicious.

A cosy little villa with a wonderful pool, very close to the beach and a nice seaview - very clean and cleaning service after a couple of days.

This was the most lovely villa, the pool and outside area in particular was stunning. The beds were comfy and there was lots of clean bedding. The Villa was cleaned every few days and new towels and bedding were delivered which was a treat. The restaurants in walking distance were wonderful and you could look over the sea and enjoy a delicious meal. Nikos was an exceptional host, very quick to respond and extremely helpful and polite. He went out of his way to help with taxis and advice about the area. The villa looks over the sea and is a 2 minute walk to the beach. We had a wonderful family holiday here. Thank you

Our stay at Nikos’s villa was beyond our expectations. Cafe and beach steps away from the villa, restaurants and a super market down the street and direct access to a highway made this a prime location for us.

Great host and enjoyable spot

Mooie villa en vriendelijk host. We hebben een fantastische vakantie gehad. Grote tuin met privé zwembad en uitzicht op zee.

La maison est fidèle aux photo. Elle invite à la détente avec ses différents espaces entre hamac, salon de jardin, transat ou encore pergola.
L’intérieur de la maison est frais.
Une femme de ménage est passée dans la semaine pour changer les draps et serviette.
Nous sommes arrivés tardivement et notre hôte nous avait préparé des sandwichs.
Il a été disponible et réactif à toutes nos questions. Bref c’est une belle adresse pour la région !

Ett riktigt fint hus, smakfullt och välplanerat. Underbar trädgård med uteplats i skugga, stor härlig pool, solstolar och vackra växter. Gångavstånd till fantastisk strand. Vi hade bil vilket fungerade mycket bra och något jag rekommenderar då huset ligger en bit från restauranger och affärer. Det fanns dock några ställen inom gångavstånd. Vi träffade aldrig Nikos men han var snabb att svara och väldigt hjälpsam. I mitten av vistelsen kom en städerska och städade och bytte lakan - mycket uppskattat! Huset ligger nära en större väg men det var inget som störde oss, det var lugnt och tyst inomhus.

Erg fijn huis met zwembad in directe omgeving van Rethymnon, natuur, supermarkten, zee en stad, restaurants en andere bezienswaardigheden dichtbij. We hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad, plek is zeer aan te bevelen om Kreta te bezichtigen.

Die Villa ist wirklich hervorragend. Nikos ist ein toller Gastgeber, der einen super Service bietet und stets erreichbar ist. Eine klare Empfehlung!

The villa is so beautiful and private. We stayed as a group of friends for a week and had a fantastic time. The place looks exactly like the pictures. Nikos is extremely responsive and helpful, check in was very flexible and uncomplicated. The place is immaculate and the pool and garden as well. Super easy to get to the beach. Supermarket and restaurants/cafe are walking distance, ideal for a relaxing getaway.

Such a beautiful spot to stay. The villa was clean and comfortable with a beautiful sea view. There is a local taverna, supermarket and coffee shop all within two minutes. Other restaurants less than 15 mins away too. Nikos was helpful and responsive, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Très bel endroit à 2 min à pied de la plage, instructions claires pour s’y rendre je recommande vivement le logement de Nikos.

Nikos est hôte disponible qui répond rapidement aux demandes et aux questions. la maison est très confortable et correspond parfaitement aux photos.
la cuisine est plutôt bien équipée il y a de quoi se faire correctement à manger. les chambres sont propres et bien rangées. il y a de grands placards qui permettent de stocker ses affaires. la salle de bain est propre. la plage est à 50m par un petit chemin piéton.

Nikos has been an awesome host.
The house looks exactly like in the pictures.
He responded very quickly and always friendly. He helped us to order taxis and airport transfer. He even made it possible to check in 2 hours earlier then the regular check in.
The accommodation is as shown. You have everyday utensils to use. The house was very clean. The pool and the pool area is stunning. The walk to the beach is about 2 minutes and the view of the ocean from the house makes this an absolute perfect getaway.
The area is really quite. The beach was sandy and not too many rocks. Also not very crowded.
There is also a very nice and real good coffee place just a minute away.
All in all there is nothing I could complain about. We had a wonderful vacation.

This place is a wonderful destination for those seeking peace and quiet. The space is modern, clean, and incredible. It has easy access to the beach and national road 90 which provides easy access to most of the island. The host is a great communicator and provides clear instructions. We were very pleased with our stay, and we'd love to return!

The communication with our host was great from the beginning and we had everything we needed in the villa.
It's a lovely quiet house and the pool is really gorgeous. We were travelling with our baby daughter and it was very convenient as the beach is walking distance, there is a taverna next door and the supermarket is only 5 min walk.

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Woche in der Villa von Nikos. Er war immer kurzfristig erreichbar und hat bei allen Anliegen geholfen. Das Haus ist traumhaft schön, sehr schöner Garten/Terrasse, ruhig gelegen und ohne direkte Nachbarn, privater Pool und nur wenige Meter zu Fuß zum Meer und zum Sandstrand. Das Haus selbst hat genau die richtige Größe für 4 Personen und war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Während des Aufenthaltes kam sogar einmal eine Reinigungskraft zum sauber machen und hat auch frische Handtücher gebracht. In der direkten Umgebung sind kleine Supermärkte und einige Restaurants fußläufig erreichbar. Ein Auto ist aber zu empfehlen um auch die schöne Insel zu entdecken.
Insgesamt die beste AirBNB Erfahrung bisher, es gibt nichts auszusetzen.

We cannot fault this villa, the outdoor space is wonderful and the pool is superb. Just a short walk from the beach down the lane. Nikos couldn’t have been more helpful he arranged a transfer for us when we arrived and a hire car for while we were there. Lots of lovely restaurants nearby “Eleven” was wonderful . We can’t wait to come back

Alles ist in der Villa von Nikos vereint, um einen schönen Aufenthalt zu verbringen und Kreta zu entdecken.
Meerblick, eine große Terrasse und ein gut ausgestattetes, sauberes Haus.
Das beste an der Lage war definitiv, dass man in wenigen Gehminuten bei ein, zwei Supermärkten und einigen Restaurants war. Das Café direkt um die Ecke hielt alles für einen leckeren Snack bereit. Kurz gesagt, empfehlenswert!
Rethymno war mit dem Auto circa 15 Minuten entfernt, auf dem Weg dahin liegen ebenfalls größere Supermärkte.
Nikos ist zudem ein sehr aufmerksamer Gastgeber. Er antwortet schnell und löst etwaige Probleme zuverlässig.
Alles in allem ein sehr entspannter und erholsamer Urlaub, so dass wir die Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen können.

Nikos's place was really wonderful, you are in the middle of Crete with excursions possible in all directions.
Pool is very clean and the right size to relax and dive into. The beach is just around the corner.
Tavernas and restaurants nearby are very good to excellent, 10 minutes trip to Rethymno which is a very charming city with loads of different restaurants.
Nikos and his friends/family are just a text away from help or recommendations.
Would come again anytime!

La villa est très bien conçue et bien décorée.
Le jardin avec sa piscine vu sur mer est un atout charme pour ce lieu de vacances !

We had a great stay at Niko’s place. It is in a great location, just a short drive or bus ride from Rethymno town and with some nice little tavernas within a few minutes walk. The place was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed. The pool was lovely and we made use of the bbq. There is a nice secluded beach at the bottom of the road. Niko’s was easy to communicate with and very helpful when my friend was unwell. We were sad to leave and would love to return in future.

Beautiful villa, just like the pictures! Nikos was super helpful, he even fixed a stroller for our baby. We had a lovely time!

We really loved and enjoyed this place. It was very clean and they thought about every detail in the house. We can strongly recommend it and are already thinking about when to book it again. The locations is also very good and it took us only a 10 minute drive to reach Rethymno. There are also a lot of good beaches nearby as well as a supermarket and some very good taverns.

What an amazing Airbnb, wish I could rate this 6 stars. Communication was impeccable, location was idyllic, it was extremely clean and had just had a renovation to look more modern. The private pool, patio and bbq was fantastic!

The cafe next to the house was fabulous for morning coffees and pastries, taverna dimitris also next to the house had great meat dishes for dinner, the sea was a 2 minute walk and a bus to town was just outside too.

Would definitely come back and stay again, already booking for next year!

The villa was perfectly situated for us, being near enough for places to eat and a great little supermarket. The villa itself was lovely and spacious for myself, my wife, and our two kids (8 + 12). The pool and view of the sea were amazing, as was the hospitality extended to us by both Nikos and his aunt. The lovely Turtle Beach with its crystal clear waters was only a short walk away and even at the height of August not over packed with other holday makers. Whilst there is good public transport with the bus stop near the villa if you have a hire car you can explore all the lovely other local beaches as well as the amazing Kournas Lake, Melidoni Caves and other places of interest. Breakfast from the cafe, a stone's throw away, was lovely with its fresh pastries. All-in-all the stay was relaxing and refreshing, the private garden surrounding the pool was secluded and lush. I would definitely recommend this villa to stay and we will very likely be back.

A very nice villa with a fantastic pool.

The villa is fabulous; perfect for our family of 4. The pool was a great treat as the temperatures approached 30. Evenings sitting on the veranda beside the pool were also nice. The convenience of a Minimarket a short walk away was a good benefit. We enjoyed the two BBQ dinners we cooked. The hosts were helpful in sharing local info with us. With our rental car we were able to visit Knossos and to enjoy many evenings in Rethymno - a lively spot! The locals were friendly and many spoke English.

A deux pas de la mer, nous prenions juste nos serviettes pour aller nous baigner dès que nous en avions l'envie.
Proche d'un café et d'une bonne taverne où l'on peut se rendre à pied. Nous les avons particulièrement appréciés le soir et le lendemain matin de notre arrivée. Cela nous a aider à apprécier nos premières heures sans avoir à rechercher où nous restaurer.
A quelques kilomètres de la ville principale (Rethymon), nous avions loué une voiture mais il y a des navettes en bus toute la journée pour s'y rendre.
L'hôte répond toujours très rapidement aux messages si besoin.

The villa and the garden with the pool are excellent. The local village is small, but a bus goes from right around the corner and everything is close if you rent a car. A great plave to relax.

This villa was absolutely stunning in every way. The pool and apartment were super clean and everything was provided for, including Wifi, TV and speakers. With such a beautiful place we didn't need to leave much, but highly recommend getting the bus (outside the villa) to Rethymno for great places to eat, drink and explore.

The bus is 20 minutes away from the town centre, so Sfakaki is nice and quiet if you want to chill with a remote beach area nearby too. There's a supermarket and cafe next door too. Everyone is very friendly and it is a super safe area.

We hope to stay there again one day.

We had a great stay at this villa. Everything was clean with regular cleaning and sheets/towel changes. There were a number of great tavernas and restaurants in the area (we would definitely recommend restaurant eleven and paraplous). We went to Matt cafe (just next door) every morning because the coffee and pastries were so delicious! There was also a tour excursion office next door to the cafe which we used and had a great day hiking the Samaria Gorge! The location is ideal being out of the busy areas but also only a walk or short drive to more touristy areas such as rethymno. We would definitely recommend staying here and Natalia was really friendly and helpful!

This was the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in! The villa was immaculate with the most incredible backyard oasis. Great location about an hour from Chania and 15 min from Rethymno. Nikos was super helpful and communicative. There were several thoughtful touches that made our stay extra special! The Matt cafe on the corner was amazing for morning coffees. Overall it was just fantastic!

Such a great place to stay easy to get around, definitely would suggest renting a car to see all of Crete!

Wonderful getaway! The place is so clean, well decorated, and fantastic location. We enjoyed that it was tucked away from the hustle of the city. The pool was perfect; it truly felt like our own private oasis in Crete. Nikos was so helpful and friendly. We would return in a heartbeat!

We spend a week at this wonderful place and we were absolutely amazed by everything - don’t think twice and stay at this location if possible.

Even before we started our vacation, Nikos gave us lots of hints regarding COVID-test centers close to Sfakaki.

We can highly recommended to ask Nikos for preferable car rentals - he has great contacts and arranges everything. This not only gives you better conditions but also a better price-value ratio compared to booking via a broker.

When driving to Villa Mathios, it is easier to search for „Matt Café“; our Maps had difficulties finding the address stated in Airbnb.

The time to get to Sfakaki from Heraklion Airport is approx. 1 hour and the location is easy to find.

Talking about the location: This place is even better when the pictures might indicate. It has everything you need to have a relaxing and wonderful vacation. It is well equipped, even has a BBQ place and pool and garden are especially nice. The view you have from the garden towards the sea is stunning. We can recommend to go to the beach for a morning swim and spend the hotter time of the day at the pool. The location is very tidy and we could choose how often a room cleaning service would drop in to clean the house - amazing.

Thanks to its location, you can easily access the greater Rethymno and Heraklion area very easy. You should ask Nikos for recommendations regarding places to eat and hidden gems. Approximately 1 km towards Heraklion there is a local supermarket that also has fresh meat, which is very good!

One of the many highlights is Matt Café right next to the location which is run by Nikos closer relatives - they make excellent Freddo and Frapé. We have been there at least twice a day.

Nikos is an excellent host. He responds extremely fast, is incredibly friendly and manages everything very well. He coordinates everything with his aunt who lives beneath the location. She is also extremely friendly and kind.

We had a wonderful time at Villa Mathios and would come back whenever we visit Crete.

We were here with my wife and two small kids and everything was awesome. Villa is really beautiful, palms and bushes are much bigger than you can see in photos and it looks even better plus there is always shadow somewhere if you want to hide from the sun 🙂 Beach is really 50m away and it's beautiful, perfect for kids. I can recommend this villa for all families. Nikos and his aunt and uncle, the cleaning lady, and all the people from the coffee house are super nice and helpful. When we had a problem with wifi, it was solved immediatelly. Nikos was like our concierge here, so for every question/request we had, he has no problem with it and really helped us with everything.

This house was really the best of All the houses we stayed in at Crete. All the facilities in and outdoors were excellent. The hospitality and the kindness were sublime. A+++ rating
